Clipping is back, and they're taking a break from their horrorcore adventures they took on their last two albums. This new one sounds a lot more like CLPPNG and it's weirdly refreshing. On the first two listens it rarely reaches the same highs that "Visions of Bodies Being Burned" and "There Existed and Addiction to Blood" reach for me, however Clipping often put out growers and I wouldn't be surprised if my opinion changes after a couple more listens. Of course, it's another concept album, this time sounding like a soundtrack to a a dystopian cyberpunk landscape. At times the production and the rapping can feel a bit more disjointed than what we're used to hearing from Clipping, especially compared to what we heard on "Splendor and Misery", which shares a similar format with this new release, although "Dead Channel Sky" is (at least from my first two listens) less linear and more cryptic about whats actually happening. All in all I will be listening to this again 100% and I'm just happy that we exist in a world where such a creative and unapologetic trio of musicians can be allowed to continually put out fresh sounding music. Combining genres in unusual ways and weaving these cryptic stories through each of their records while also making sure your head is bopping all the way through. Some hair raising moments on this one as well but that's expected of Clipping. Favorite songs: Run It, Dodger, Keep Pushing, Welcome Home Warrior, Code
