Vastly different from the first installment it’s kinda ridiculous (in the best way possible), but I was so happy to finally get a real sense of the massive world Robert Jordan has created. It has some outstanding world building, but for me, it doesn’t mean its image is crystallising just yet - this is the tiniest piece of a huge picture and there is still a lot of mystery surrounding it. I guess that’s exactly how a good slow burn works. It made me think of all the instant gratification we get nowadays, and how reading this series helps me delay it and that feels real good on my smooth little brain. Jordan’s true writing style comes to life here and it has just the right kind of pace a fantasy book needs. The storyline branches out and you’re thrown into multiple sideplots (and compared to the tv show - I actually care about all of the character storylines lol). All in all very excited to keep going!!
