Alice Sebold’s novel about the rape and murder of a young girl who must watch and narrate the grief of her family from ‘the in between’ of heaven and earth was an extremely difficult read. Susie Salmon must also deal with her own pain, which is what keeps her trapped in the in between. Recommended if you can handle the subject matter. I really appreciated how it did not shy away from such horrible themes.
