I picked up the book with absolutely no expectations - the title just sounded fun and somehow, it turned into one of the best books I’ve read. A solid 10/10 recommend. The story follows a literature professor who feels trapped in her life, weighed down by disappointment, routine, COVID, and a marriage that’s fallen apart after her husband’s affair. On a whim, she ends up at a hotel in the middle of a week long wedding. As she gets to know the “wedding people”, she slowly starts rediscovering herself. What I loved most is how the book shows that she was always smart, kind, thoughtful, and deeply interesting - she had just forgotten it. Watching her open up, introspect, and reconnect with who she really is was incredibly heartwarming. The book is surprisingly funny too - I bursted out laughing randomly so many times! The ending is bittersweet, but in a way that stays with you. It made me reflect on my own life, my relationships, and the versions of ourselves we sometimes lose along the way - unexpectedly powerful.
