I really enjoyed how he pictured the first world war and his impressions on the United States of America, but that doesn't even cover a third of the book. Sure I laughed here and there, but all in all it was too boring, too misogynistic, too long, too racist, and too onanistic. Read it in Portuguese along with a couple of friends. My edition was clearly an older and pruder one. Each time I read "kissing" the correct term should actually be "fornicating", so it seemed. So yeah, the translation didn't help, but also I wasn't a fan of Celine's writing style. Such overly complicated sentence structure. I don't think there'll be a next time, Celine.
