I've been reminiscing about this game lately. Alongside Age of Empires 2, Medal of Honor, Heroes of Might & Magic, ES:Oblivion, and Command & Conquer one of the defining games of my childhood. There is something beautiful and unique about playing games so much that you become so intricately familiar with every single mechanic, every enemy, every sound effect and song, every voice acted line, every item in the game. Each act felt entirely unique, like something never seen before in games. The atmosphere absolutely impeccable. It's hard to describe. Add to that an addictive multiplayer, with both environmental or player versus player gameplay, and a loot and crafting system, and people easily played this every day for years. After some years, there came a moment of "what's actually the point, and am I still having fun?", as long-term players can attest for all games they sunk many hours into — but in hindsight, the reminiscence tints it warmly.
