Tennis player turned coach Tashi has taken her husband, Art, and transformed him into a world-famous Major champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she signs him up for a "Challenger" event — close to the lowest level of pro tournament — where he finds himself standing across the net from his former best friend and Tashi's former boyfriend.

Watched this film back in cinema two years ago and didn't log it because Katalog didn't exist at the time .. seeing Zendaya in Drama reminded me how much I love her on screen to the point I am not even sure if she is a great actress or I have a girl crush on her? Someone clarify this please to me? Neverthless, this is one of my favorite movies of all time and definetely the best movie I came across in the last two years. No one besides Marko seem to agree so let me try to discuss this further. The energy in this picture is insane. The chemistry between the characters is so palpable and I find it fascinating how sexual it feels without ever being vulgar. Actually, there is not a single real sex scene present even though sex is basically a light motive! Also, there are sooo many little smart details such as clothes and jewerlly selection for characters that yell without ever saying a word. The music ties everything together and the culmination and the end is sooo satisfying.
Fucking amazing until the last half hour. Turned into Indian soap opera style close ups. No resolution. She burned down her life but hey at least there was 15 seconds of good fucking tennis.
Super hot... Killer soundtrack
an electric match with three terrible people to the incredible sounds of reznor and ross it’s good but i don’t think it’s great, it tried to do a few too many things in unusual manners: the camera effects, the soundtrack, the narrative jumps, the time jumps inside time jumps, the slow mo’s, the offset soundtrack so it makes you feel uncomfortable over an inappropriate scene, the chapter titles what was great was the aesthetic, the relationships and their stresses and the build up of tension to the final climactic scene, and when the soundtrack hits just right i just wish the lows were a little lower, so that the highs could be a little higher - it felt just a little flat throughout which becomes a long time over 2 hours
This was a delicious little treat of a movie if the movie was an elaborate two hour preach about how everything is tennis
It does have an extremely interesting premise and nicely structured general storyline but comes across as forcefully aestheticized and awfully unsubltle and unnecessarily explicit in spelling out its symbols, metaphors and allegories to the point where it seems a little pathetic. A more delicate, ambivalent visual language would've made this a great film.
