Doubt

Philip Seymour Hofmann had this ability to look like the kindest, most empathetic person and the worst, manipulative creep at the same time. Meryl Streep switches from heartless to compassionate and so much more within microexpressions. The two of them meet and clash in Doubt, along with the doe-eyed, gullible, submissive (or perhaps just too kind-hearted) Amy Adams and Viola Davis that sweeps you off ground in a few minutes she gets in this movie. There’s not a single redundant moment, not a single redundant word. Every shot, every word matters, Doubt gives you everything but keeps you, not guessing, but truly doubting what you’re seeing and what you’re feeling from the first moment until long after the credits roll.
