The fact that a male writer in 1992 understood teenage girls better than the entire production team in 2025 is WILD! (Book spoiler) Prom queen candidates are a group of besties. One by one, they are killed off, weeks before the prom night. What happened is: one of them killed the others because they all, except one, slept with her boyfriend. That’s it. That’s literally it. So twisty. So anxiety-inducing. So funnnnn. The makers of this movie didn’t think that “a teenage girl going psychotic because her besties betrayed her” is convincing enough. What they thought IS convincing enough is the entire town actually caring about a high school event and believing entire family histories depend on it…….. The worst of it all? It’s really, REALLY boring. Based on the reviews I kind of expected all this so why did I watch it? Because when you’re a fan of a certain series as a child you’ll swallow up any trash related to it as an adult, I guess... If you feel the same about R.L. Stine, or if you’re simply looking for a fun slasher, I strongly suggest you to skip this one. I actually can’t think of a scenario where watching this would do anyone any good.
