Truly a flop flick :(
Cute and fun, but pretty artificial. In the first movie, all the frustration and intolerance are understandable and relatable to anyone that was an edgy teenager or a parent to one. In the second one, everyone is so understanding to begin with and everyone, from teenagers to grandparents, speaks in that weird, unnatural social media therapist language (sometimes on purpose, but often not). Because of that, normal teenage outbursts and pettiness come across as extreme. Maybe the conflicts between the characters would be more relatable if they weren’t in the context of “oh no, should we live our rich, successful, posh life in L.A. or London?” Especially in 2025, I don’t see the appeal in either, but that’s just me. The generational conflict is mostly communicated through superficial elements like social media, a lot of focus on physical appearance and side plots and dialogues clearly based on what’s currently trending, which will probably make it outdated pretty soon. Special mention goes to a group of teenage girls sitting behind me that talked for most of the movie and when the body swap happened one of them went “WHAT is going on!?!?!”, girl was SHOOK, loved that.
Not as enjoyable as the first one for me. More of the same but watered down in various ways
