#[movie:674324:The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)], except bad. I'm a fan of Tim Robinsons work, I look forward to new #[tv:88728:I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson (2019)] episodes and while I don't think I ever finished it I also really liked #[tv:69866:Detroiters (2017)]. I'm just saying this because it seems like Robinson has his own brand of comedy that you either love or you hate, I'm definitely more on the love side of the spectrum. The way that he looks and the way that he carries himself is just inherently funny to me. However, Friendship is like a decent ITYSL episode that goes on for too long. Almost all the humour is derived exclusively from Robinson's acting, and most of that felt like some sort of improvisation. I was surprised to find out that he didn't write the script, he seems to be just acting but the role was very evidently written for him. The film looks good, and there's some cool and interesting visual and sonic flourishes peppered throughout the film, but ultimately it mostly ends up looking like a music video. It also tries, but IMO fails, to have some sort of deep message on male friendship. This results in some potentially captivating tonal mishmash that primarily left me confused and didn't successfully communicate an interesting idea or make ponder upon my existing relationships in any meaningful way. Overall, not very funny, not very thought provoking, not recommended.
