Pretty fun although I was falling asleep by the end so it just became a blur of little monsters screaming and pillaging I was giggling when ||it turns out the gremlins are super smart, operating equipment and visiting the cinema|| Pretty cool special effects!
I did NOT expect this to be such a wild ride: shallowness of consumeristic Christmas, disregard of dangers in pursuit of satisfying inventive and scientific curiosity, foreigners-induced paranoia while technology-sabotaging creatures wreak havoc high on consumerism and media violence… Weirdly, it felt both racist and anti-racist at times? I’m sure there’s a million arguments about this online but it’s past midnight when Gremlins shouldn’t eat and I shouldn’t go down that rabbit hole. It’s most worth watching for its fantastic practical effects, puppetry and animatronics, that still hold up and I think it’s a good intro to horror genre for children.
