Hamnet is a type of film that any living creature can benefit from watching. What do I mean by that? It pictures everlasting themes such as profecies, birth, death, love and the pure passage of time. Mostly all of the scenes, specially the ones set in the forrest, are sprinkled with a magic fairy dust, reminding me very, very much on One hundred years of solitude. The repetetiveness of life and inevitability of the tragedy are imminent and very well assisted with constant shuffling between only a couple of locations, creating a rhythmic and almost hypnotic pace. But, what helped the most with creating this masterpiece is, like always, carefully and minimalistically chosen scenario and beautiful, jaw dropping acting, mostly by Jessie Buckley.
Bit of a tearjerker, but a fantastic one. I wish the music was used a bit more sparingly in crucial emotional moments Regrdless, it's a great film with an unexpected direction and phenomenal performances, especially by Buckley.
