Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, a man has established a tenuous domestic order with his wife and son, but this will soon be put to test when a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge.
A great slow burn of a psychological horror thriller. I love that it doesn't try to explain everything for you, and some things are just left in the dark. Its a rich atmospheric story. It's such a delight to see characters make intelligent and deliberate choices. The house is a role in itself, and is beautiful shoot. The use of only natural light in the nightscenes creates a claustrophobic mood that soods the story. Joel Edgeton is great as the stoic patriarch of the family. The biggest problem with the movie is its title and trailer. People are going to be disappointed if the expect a high paced horror.
