Explore the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.
Skull Island is a movie with, in my opinion, a lot of potential that unfortunately squanders it away. Its a very schizophrenic movie that on on side tries to be an adventure movie, and then on the other tries to be an war movie. And its only the adventure part that really works, and that still doesn't quite work. The movie is hampered by a lot of really bad dialogue. Especially Brie Larson isn't given a lot to work with, and her character is one of the most one dimensionel characters I've seen in a long time. Only surpassed by the very bland Chinese biologist played by Jing Tian. The movie does have some bright moments that showcases what could have been. You have some great world building surrounding the natives on the island, and I do like the performances of John C. Reilly and John Goodman both doing what they can with a bad manuscript.
