A journalist sets out to uncover the truth about the death of his colleague who was researching an American artist, Richard Upton Pickman. When he discovers the artist is in Santiago he goes to pay him a visit.
Crispin Glover is perfect as a haunted artist, inspired by Eldritch horror from the shadows. Really can’t figure his accent out... That’s a very long death scene... The creature design is quite cool but could have been better. The paintings are weird, but not that weird. A bit unsettling, but not in such a degree I would gouge out my eyes. If you want scary paintings don’t show them. Just show a small part of it. It’s a lot more effective.
