I can't figure out if the film is bad because it's just bad or if being bad is part of the self-aware meta nonsense as a kinda commentary on modern films. Overall they went way too over the top with the meta stuff which, in my opinion, ruined what was otherwise a pretty entertaining slasher film.
It was exactly what I wanted. We watched 1 through 4 in anticipation and it feels just right. As far as I’m concerned they can keep making these forever, just the right balance of meta, gruesome, and campy that makes it fun to watch
