I loved watching this in the theater. It really needs the big screen and a good sound system. The music and the way it works with the scenes was actually my favorite part. I might be disappointed if I ever rewatch it at home.
Kudos to all the fresh and courageous details, like the dance scene, the bar scene (why on Earth was it pushed after the credits!?) and some campy vampire moments and a few more, but after all those are just details. It went on and on and on and on, I thought it was never going to finish. Did someone kidnap the editor in the process? It felt like the entire footage made it into the movie. Sure, it’s charming and in some moments heartwarming, but I have to admit I struggled throughout. It reminded me a lot of Peaky Blinders, with family and gangsters and the era, but more exhausting and less frightening, naturally, since the villains were hippy vampires and not regular Englishmen
Oof this was a slog to get through. A few banger songs and an initial good vibe completely overstays its welcome — with tonal shifts, random aspect ratio experiments, messed up pacing, endless dialogues that aren’t as interesting as the writer seems to have thought, and it just NEVER ENDS. It’s not good enough for it to never end!
Aside from a weak story and some very questionable plot choices (||deus ex machina teleportation among other things||), the only redeeming qualities of this movie are its good music and one cool sequence shot. honestly really not worth recommending
Very fun to watch, and I usually dislike this genre of movies. I also didn't expect the soundtrack to be that good!
Great production, but the movie is not so special. I've read some reviews on the internet, that were trying to give deeper meaning to the movie but I just don't see it. Anyways, From Dusk Till Dawn is a better movie :D
Day 14 of #junesploitation – Free Space! Southern Gothic meets Dusk to Dawn Great pacing. Takes the time it needs. Arkapaw makes some stunning compositions. The sequences were Sammies music summons the past and future. 👌 Awesome Score and soundtrack. One of the best movies I have seen this year.
Fun little movie with great music. Towards the third act it reminded me of “From Dusk Till Down”.
