The rebellious Thracian Spartacus, born and raised a slave, is sold to Gladiator trainer Batiatus. After weeks of being trained to kill for the arena, Spartacus turns on his owners and leads the other slaves in rebellion. As the rebels move from town to town, their numbers swell as escaped slaves join their ranks. Under the leadership of Spartacus, they make their way to southern Italy, where they will cross the sea and return to their homes.
The movie is a great Epic with a terrific cast. I remembered that it was a bit homoerotic. But it's a lot more than a bit. Especially the bath scene with Tony Curtis and Laurence Olivier I loving watching the newsreels on my dvd. Kirk Douglas is going to star in the 5 million Epic. Spartacus the new film from UI on of the most expensive movies at a budget of 8 million dollars. Alle stars are at the premiere of the most expensive movie ever made with a budget of 12 million dollars! And there is a wonderful clip of Kirk Douglas pressing his chin down in wet cement at Grauman's Chinese Theater
A pleasure to watch with some pacing issues, but nonetheless I loved it
