It's not bad, Milla Jovovich gives a quite good performance, I liked seeing her perpetual state of semi-madness. I would actually posit that the majority of issues with this movie are directorial choices. It wasn't tasteful enough, if that makes sense? It works completely in something like his #[movie:18:The Fifth Element (1997)], but it's just a little goofy here. Plagued by visions, she rallies France and unleashes fury on the English, only to be betrayed and burned at the stake for heresy. In any adaptation, watching the young Jeanne being burned is gut-wrenching. The supporting cast is...a little clumsy. The pacing, sound design, tone varies quite wildly, being almost comedic in some moments that really, I believe, don't deserve to be. I suppose I was hoping for a gritty telling of the story, which I believe is really key to this story, but it was a mix of gritty with really clumsy, which takes you out of it. Characters spoke British English on both sides, except a couple that speak with a French accent, that's the kind of shit I cannot forgive, Besson you hack The battles are a mix of believable with complete nonsense.
