Well. I’ve finally seen it. It’s—it’s been seen. And I’ve— Look, I don’t know, you guys. Some jokes were really funny, but not many, and not often. I just don’t like this kind of meta humor. I don’t like parody films. I get that they’re supposed to signal, hey, we’re in on the joke, don’t take us seriously, but this one takes that so far that there’s nothing left but the parody. That said, I can’t pretend I didn’t laugh. Kevin Durand’s “I don’t like this” delivery—perfect. Pamela Anderson taking the chair with her—great. The snowman sequence? Genuinely beautiful. And Rupert asleep is pure genius. But you can’t parody everything. When you do, it starts to feel less like a movie and more like a really long CollegeHumor sketch. Like one of those What If Google Were a Guy videos that just… keeps going. I guess I like my comedy a little more clever or absurd. More Community, less Scary Movie. With all that said, the only reason I’ve wanted to see the movie is because I do dearly want to believe that Pamela Anderson is dating Liam Neeson. Please, Christ, we need this. Climate change is out of control, wars are everywhere, and Will Smith has returned to music-making when—quoting a YouTube commenter on the “Pretty Girls” video—“when we needed him least.” We all deserve this romance.
This was so hilarious, tounge in cheek, it pokes fun at every cop movie cliche. So many fun details like the PLOT device and the song he wrote to Beth. I did not expect a good goofy comedy in this decade.
I can see how this would be a fun experience in cinema with a group of people laughing and having a good time, but if you remove that, it's really not that great. I enjoyed the first 20 or so minutes. The jokes mostly landed and felt like Naked Gun. They had a cleverness to them. But the film devolves into stupid quickly and relies on crude humour way to much (and not the particularly clever or funny kind). There's still some good gags but they are few and far between. What's worse is that, for the sheer volume of jokes, they actually manage to miss some obvious ones that the originals would have nailed. I love spoof films and have probably watched way too many of them. This falls more into the realm of the post Scary Movie movies than the really good spoofs, which is a shame as it has some potential at times.
85 min was the perfect length for this movie. The jokes were there and most of them were just so stupid, but well integrated. Overall it was a fun watch after a long day
A couple of laughs, a couple of chuckles, that's about it. Wish that the legacy sequel meta theme was utilised a bit more.
As absurd, as idiotic and as long as it should be. It’s charming and packed with jokes of the entire spectrum, some land better than others but I laughed and I noticed I haven’t laughed during a new release since The Substance (and that probably wasn’t supposed to make me laugh as much as it did). I should probably laugh more in general… A bit bored of the big tech billionaire villain, I think we’ve had enough of those imbeciles already, in satires, parodies, dramas and, of course, the tragicomedy that is real life
pretty fun overall! some knee slappers and some not so much but it had charm. shocking to have a 70 minute film in this day and age but I appreciated the length cinema crowd: intensely loud coughers, concerningly so; a guy with a seemingly bottomless bag of crisps who felt the need to crinkle it continuously for about 15 minutes, and a man who got a call and proceeded to answer it and chitchat about the movie 👌🏻
