After seven months have passed without a culprit in her daughter's murder case, Mildred Hayes makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at Bill Willoughby, the town's revered chief of police. When his second-in-command Officer Jason Dixon, an immature mother's boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated.
A great cast with some really fantastic performances from FRances McDormand, Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell which hides all the big problems in the the story. The story is a mess. Its not sure what it really wants is it a story about guilt? revenge? or what is the main theme of the movie? Some of the narrative choices is really weird. An example is the Woody Harrelson's character arc. That makes sense and is really great, but it doesn't work in the context of the movies main story. (That changes several times doing the movie). Its a great character study, with a really weak story, when you take a step back.
