In the 28th century, Valerian and Laureline are special operatives charged with keeping order throughout the human territories. On assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two undertake a mission to Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where species from across the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence, and cultures. At the center of Alpha is a mysterious dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.
Visually stunning. That's the only positive thing I can say about this movie. It's boring, forgettable and maybe the stupidest movie I have seen this year, maybe this decade. Cara Delevingne and her costar Dane DeHaan don't have any chemistry at all. It's like watching a bad date, between two people meeting for the first time before their arranged marriage. Which Besson somehow tries to fix with an idiotic marriage subplot that is embarrassing and The "plot" is messy at best, and at the same time insanely convoluted. It's all over the place. The movie uses one third of the movie on a completely unimportant kidnapping/rescue plot that doesn't have anything to do with the main plot, and doesn't do anything. I haven't seen a story use so much exposition for years. It's hopeless. Even with so much exposition I can't figure out half of the plot, and still need some exposition to figure out what is happening in the movie. Did I mention the casting? It's the worst casting I
