When it started I thought it was a little mid, and I was wrong. Funny, but mostly dark, and you can see where it may have inspired a bunch of stuff that came later. ||I found myself thinking most of the movie that she’s not trying very hard to survive. Lady, just call out the window to your neighbour, SHE’S RIGHT THERE GOOD LORD, but then it turns out she’s a baddie so it’s all deserved. Sad for everyone involved and the culprit is stardom||
It’s a perfect mix of haha and actually terrifying. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford are good from the beginning of the movie, but as it progresses and escalates you realise they are actually brilliant, it really hit me in the end. Also, whenever I hear about real life Baby Janes I’m thinking this is such a solvable problem. Just don’t put your toddlers on stage forcing them into the life of a performance, it can’t be that hard can it… (enter social media) Anyway, I encourage you to print out the script and reenact it with your siblings or, if you don’t have any, close friends you’d die for but also slightly resent
