Carol Jeffries is a naive American woman staying in the Philippines. She is given ten years in prison after being set up by her drug-dealer boyfriend, Rudy. She endures the harsh conditions, sadistic head matron and attempts on her life, then convinces her cell-mates to try to escape with her through the jungle, in spite of the knowledge that ruthless trackers will be sent out after them.
Day 28 of #Junesploitation 2021 - Free Choice! Quite sleazy and trashy prison movie. Is it wrong that I really like it? Huh. They have surprisingly nice makeup in the prison. Pam Grier is great as the sadistic matron, Alabama. Pretty grim ending. --- Filmen der gav navn til en hel subgenre af film, som handlede om kvinder der røg i fængsel eksotiske steder. Det er alt hvad exploitation handler om: vold, nøgne kvinder og mere vold. Der er så meget nøgenhed i filmen, at man til sidst ikke længere lægger mærke til det. Pam Grier er et lyspunkt i filmen , som den onde kvindelig vagt, der udnytter de kvindelige fanger både seksuelt og til hendes sadistiske nydelser.
