A gripping mystery, up until the very end—the last episode was a little disappointing. I feel like a lot of things were left unexplained, like the entire Doll complex/mother/great evil thing, and the resolution to everything was a bit underwhelming, to be honest. They ended on a strong note, and I am curious enough to be excited for season 2. Overall, it's fun, it's silly (but not so much as to ruin the whole thing), it's interesting, and it keeps you on your toes the entire time.
This was a fun ride! I was into the mystery but I feel like they tried to do a lot and it ended up lacking a little depth. Feels like a fever dream a little bit, things kinda just work out. The irishness is very entertaining, lots of side characters are really funny! I was also really impressed with the young actors portraying the protagonists, in general all the casting was great. The Derry Girls easter eggs were nice 😭
Loved the leading ladies, loved the Irishness, loved the morbid whimsy of the Booker’s crew. The vibe is there but the writing is not nearly as tight as in Derry Girls, in my opinion. Lisa McGee is the creator of both, but I’m actually not sure she wrote this one. I liked the mystery, but the way it all unveiled felt a bit clumsy and, considering its importance in the whole ordeal, I missed deeper insight into Greta’s early childhood and Margo’s research.
