John Taylor lives in quiet solitude, designing puzzles for a living, under the nom-de-plume of 'Ludwig'. When his identical twin, James, disappears off the face of the earth, John takes over his brother's identity in a quest to discover his whereabouts.

Hmm, I'm not a huge fan of "the main character correctly solves the murder with information that the viewers don't have access to" but that's a personal preference. It's well acted, looks great and unexpectedly funny. It's not hilarious or meant to be a full on comedy, but it did get a couple of hearty chuckles out of me each episode. The show is structured in an episodic murder of the week way, and an overarching plot. I was a bigger fan of the murder of the week stuff, those cases do well to get us to like the characters and cozy us up to Ludwig and his crew. I would probably enjoy this more if it were a more traditional detective show in the style of Columbo for example. This is also the reason why I didn't like episode 6 and the series one conclusion. It gets a bit too convenient, silly and hard to believe. Overall a really cozy take on the genius detective type of show which somewhat fumbles the overarching plot, but I would recommend it anyways.
Ever since I watched it, I keep waiting for next season. The unexpected ending really got to me. The only thing missing is more puzzles.
Watched this recently but logging it now because others are hehe A charming, daytime murder mystery. If you like Sherlock, Poirot and other unrealistically brilliant Brits (I’m pretty sure that Poirot got the passport at some point) or if you self-diagnosed neurodivergence because you enjoy crossroads and sudokus a bit too much (but let’s be honest, any amount is too much) this one’s for you
