Season 2 review: Not as good as the first season, it's mostly inert, having Chris bounce around between being chased by ARGUS aaaand being chased by ARGUS but in a different location. It's still hilarious, but even the humour isn't as consistent as the first season, Vigilante is completely sidelined for the entire season. The || Nazi Earth || was a cool but predictable twist that kind of goes nowhere, for now at least. There's also a notable lack of action; there's three memorable action pieces in the entire season, I think? The show still has a huge heart and some really nice character moments, but the plot itself leaves a lot to be desired. This kind of "meh" impression I'm left with is mostly due to the final episode. It really doesn't feel like a season finale, it feels like the first episode of season three or even a first act of a new DCU movie. Also, Gunn puts in, not one, but TWO entire songs where the band actually plays it on stage and our characters are at their show. I know he's really into music and he likes to make friends with everyone (and that's probably why his actors have such great chemistry) but TWO entire songs??!! And one of them we already hear every week because it's the show's opening??? I already hate that type of fanservice scenes where the fan being serviced is the director, but he couldn't help himself but put in TWO bands that he likes? I hated that with a passion, and it soured the entire season to a point.
