I return to this one again and again when I need a pick me up. The story of the titular Ted Lasso lost interest after the first watch, but the supporting cast keeps me coming back. Jaime, Roy, Keeley and Rebecca are spellbinding, Roy and Jaime especially. They’re just so well put together, three dimensional in the most optimistic, humanist way. If we were to use a cooking analogy, the flavors are perfectly balanced, sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami. I get an extra kick from the knowledge that the actor playing Jaime is a posh little blonde, and that the actor playing Roy is a gentle, soft spoken sweetheart. I can’t think of another IP where every one of the background characters is so interesting and fleshed out. Coach Beard, Danny, Higgins, Isaac, Colin, hell, even Zava. Masterfully done.
