The body of Laura Palmer is washed up on a beach near the small Washington state town of Twin Peaks. FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper is called in to investigate her strange demise only to uncover a web of mystery that ultimately leads him deep into the heart of the surrounding woodland and his very own soul.

Actually not finished because season 3 "The Return" is the same show, so putting this back into in progress. Watched episode 1 and so far I'm.......apprehensive. I felt the same when I began Twin Peaks so maybe it's intentional? ----- Finished Twin Peaks! When it began, I was quite apprehensive. It was slow, a little nonsensical, and not particularly engaging. After a while however, every single character comes into their own, and in a telenovela-like manner, you simply start accepting everything for what it is, and you can't look away. Unlike a telenovela however, the mystery is fantastic. It builds from a spark, into a roaring fire that is somehow omnipresent but still in the background. There is an evil at play, like Lord of the Ring's Sauron, that affects everything, its machinations palpable, but is unseen. I think it is now one of those classic shows for me. One of those obviously timeless stories, with obviously unforgettable characters. The real mystery is how I only just now watched it. The half-star reduction is due to the amount of loose ends the show decided to leave, and how many character's stories were left unfinished. You could argue that's fine, but I spent a lot of time getting to know them, and was very invested in them, and wanted to see what their journey amounts to. Perhaps the third season, which I believe was shot MUCH later, will reveal some things. ----- something something dreams something something log something something coffee
